Romantic Whistler Proposal | Whistler Engagement Photography | Andrew + Julia

Whistler is a fantastic location for all visitors - whether you’re looking to ski/snowboard in the winter or explore the vast trail network by mountain bike in the summer - you can visit for a romantic weekend away and explore the valley - which is what Andrew and Julia did on their recent trip to Whistler.

A few weeks prior to their Whistler weekend getaway, Andrew reached out to me with his secret plan - he was going to propose to Julia and would I help be a part of it. Andrew’s vision was to have a quiet location with some flowers, originally we looked at the dock on Nita Lake - a really beautiful location to propose, but we wanted a backup plan just in case it rained, so I suggested the Stone Circle and the cabin (a really beautiful hidden outdoor Whistler wedding venue). Andrew loved the location and decided this was the perfect romantic proposal location! The plan was to set up in the Stone Circle and if it rained we would move everything to the cabin.

On the day of the proposal, the forecast in Whistler was for rain with a chance of snow - as we got closer to Andrew and Julis’s arrival it was raining lightly, so luckily we could stick with plan A. I met Sarah from Blackcomb Creative at the stone circle to help setup - Sarah created a beautiful romantic setting with candles and roses - it looked stunning! Especially as the weather was pretty moody giving the candles a romantic glow - the photos captured the colours beautifully against the wet stones.

Andrew planned a walk with Julia from their hotel - the Stone Circle is roughly a 30-minute walk from Nita Lake Lodge - once he was close I got into position and hid to give them privacy. Once they arrived - Julia had no idea - and Andrew got down on one knee to propose. This was the perfect romantic proposal location in Whistler - hidden from the trail with views of Alta Lake.
After the proposal, I came out from the bushes and captured more photos of their excitement. Neither Andrew nor Julia have had professional photos taken before, but they had nothing to worry about - they were naturals, I made them feel relaxed and we had so much fun with the photoshoot. As we were taking photos the snow came and it was perfect! I was so excited - I’m a sucker for snow during engagement photo sessions!
