A Sunset Proposal in Whistler, BC| Manny & Sam

On August 1st, Manny had a surprise up his sleeve. Sam’s best friend came up from Vancouver and set up a romantic picnic complete with champagne, cheese and flowers at ‘Fitzsimmons Fan Park’ on Green Lake in Whistler. Manny had also made a book full of photos from the past few years. He surprised Sam by heading out for a walk before dinner and came across the picnic set up - they then sat down and he showed her the book. On the last page he asked her to stand, he then got down on one knee and  proposed. Sam was beyond excited and was crying happy tears- Manny had to help wipe the tears and make up away for the photos - Sam had no idea!

After the proposal they both sat and enjoyed the moment with a glass of champagne, looking through the book of photos.
We then took advantage of a perfect summer's evening with a beautiful sunset behind the surrounding mountains around Whistler.

Here is their story as told by Sam:

We met each other in December 2017 using an online dating app (Tinder for the win!). At the time both Manny and myself were at the end of completing our undergraduate studies and didn’t have much time to be out at parties or bars to meet someone so we gave the online world a shot.

One night, after I (Sam) had finished my exams I logged in and started scrolling through Tinder until I came to Manny’s page. I had a certain criteria in my mind for who I would swipe right on – I needed to see that they put some effort in their bio and took it seriously. Manny had absolutely nothing on his page except a few handsome pictures, so what did I do? I swiped right. I got a notification within the hour that he had swiped right as well and we began talking. We had great conversations and he made me laugh which I love so much about him. We ended up exchanging numbers right away and began talking and making a plan to meet.

Our first date was on December 23 rd and we went to this sushi restaurant and we both had such a great time laughing and trying new things out of our comfort zone that Manny asked me out on a second date a few hours after the first date ended!

Over the 2.5 years being together we have developed such a great bond with each other. We started new hobbies together like Snowboarding, we travelled to new places, and we continue to surprise each other and just enjoy each other’s company. He is my biggest support system as I am his, we cannot picture our life with anyone else and we are so excited for our wedding next July!

Congratulations again guys! Here are some photos from their sunset proposal photo session in Whistler.
